Group Missions to Belize

It was so impactful to see my youth group share how God was growing them, and to see them worshiping together.

Since 1989 we’ve been mobilizing the church to engage with Jesus and join His work at home and abroad. We’ll connect you with these opportunities while taking the hassle and guess work out of planning your trip to Belize.

Meet the People of Belize

Belize is a country known for its diverse and stunning geography, featuring everything from lush rainforests and pristine beaches to ancient Mayan ruins. Located in Central America, Belize is bordered by Mexico, Guatemala, and the Caribbean Sea.

Efforts to address poverty and strongholds in Belize involves a combination of government initiatives, community programs, outreach ministries and international support. Improving access to opportunities remains crucial in reducing poverty, increasing faith and enhancing the quality of life for all Belizeans.

40% of Belizean families have a single parent. This gives the church the opportunity to partner with single moms by loving on their kids. We do that through feeding, after school programs, health care, and discipleship.

Service Opportunities
  • Home visits: Visit with families in the communities in which we serve, praying for them, hearing their stories, presenting the gospel and blessing them with groceries. This is one the most cross-cultural experiences that you will encounter.
  • Feeding Programs: Working with local churches, we serve these broken families first by offering food on a weekly basis. Among the four feeding programs, a typical site would feed 50-80 kids at a time.
  • Block Parties: Serve an impoverished community near Belize City by gathering kids and their families (200-300 people at a time!) and throwing them a party. A typical block party may include a cookout, inflatable bounce house, cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn. These parties are a great way to encourage the community and share the gospel with a large group of people at once.
  • Construction Projects: There are projects for skilled or unskilled workers! Even children with willing hands can help. Some of the projects available include: Build a house for single moms Help build a retreat center, used hosting teams, youth camps and local conferences Renovations at local churches Help build a kitchen for a feeding program
  • Prison Ministry: Minister to the inmates, sharing the love of Christ. We will work together with the prison to put together a service (with worship and teaching) for the inmates. With only one prison serving the entire country, this is an opportunity to reach a lot of people on the outs of their community.
  • Kids Ministry: These are kids who may have been neglected by their parents, or are in a rough situation where the parents were unable to care for them. Encourage the children, and their families, by running a vacation bible school (VBS) for a few days.
Living Arrangements

Lodging types can range in quality and price. Two options include:

Dorm, bunk style accommodations. Each dorm has twenty beds, with showers and toilets.
Hotel or bed and breakfast accommodations. This option would provide more privacy and comfort, and come at an additional cost. A typical hotel room could cost about $100 – $150 and accommodate up to 4 or 5 people each. Pricing depends on availability and time of the year.

Transportation

Fly into Belize City, where your assigned Mission Leader will meet you at the airport and take you to your destination. Drive time from the airport will range based on the location of your ministry site. All in-country, local transportation is included in the trip cost.

Cooking

Hot breakfasts are served each morning. Lunch will be packed sandwiches, fruit and a side to take to the ministry site. Hot Belizean dinners will typically be served after ministry at the lodging site each day.

If staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast, meals will also be arranged for you, but will come at a slightly higher cost.

Safety

The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., students must be with an adult at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. Our Mission Leaders are trained in risk management and have access to both on-field and home-office support.

Registration and Payment

$500 Deposit: This deposit is required to reserve your trip. At this point, you will lock in your trip and we will keep in touch with you going forward about preparation. This deposit is applied to the total cost of your trip.

50% Payment: Half of your total trip cost will need to be paid 3 months before your trip.

100% Payment: The remaining balance is due 2 months before your trip.

Meet Your Project Leader

An adult Mission Leader will be assigned to your team throughout the duration of your trip. They will stay with you and your team, as well as engage daily with you throughout ministry and daily life activities. This leader will have strong missions experience, leadership experience and a demonstrated competence in the area of discipleship of youth and young adults. In most cases, your Mission Leader will help with facilitating ministry, meals and daily debrief and devotional time. Your Mission Leader will be assigned to your trip and you’ll have the opportunity to have conversations with them during the weeks leading up to your trip.
