During our two-week stay, on the third day, someone approached us with a misshapen leg, seeking prayer for healing. What happened next was nothing short of extraordinary. Over the course of the next four days, we watched in awe as the leg literally grew back to a ‘normal’ state. It was a bona fide miracle, a testament to the power of prayer and the divine presence we experienced. Even after returning stateside, the impact of this testimony continued to spread through the area, reaching and touching more lives. My host family in Costa Rica even wrote to share how this miracle was still impacting people long after our departure.

Mission Trip Details

Meet the People of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of the most stable countries in Central America, economically and politically.

Its volcanoes and lush jungles draw tourists from around the world, and its easygoing beach towns are a popular destination for world-class surfing.

One of the only countries without an active military, Costa Rica lives by the motto, pura vida, which embodies an easy-going approach to life.

Service Opportunities

You will serve with our ministry partners, either in a beach town called Jaco, near the capital city of San Jose, or one of our other partner locations. Here are some ministry activities you could be doing in Costa Rica: 

      • Children’s Ministry: Share God’s love with kids and local youth through games, songs, stories, and sports in some of the slums of the capital city and at-risk areas of San Jose.
      • House Building: Build houses for single moms who need a safe place for their kids while they are at work or learning new skills. 
      • Evangelism: Meet people and listen as they share their stories. Plus you’ll have the incredible honor to share about Jesus’ love, hand out bibles and offer the awesome gift of hope He gives with the people you’ll meet. This would take place in parks, communities around our base and prisons.
      • Homeless Feeding: This opportunity is in partnership with the local church. Team members would help serve food, listen to the sermon, and minister to the locals suffering from homelessness during the time allotted for the feeding.
      • Surf Club Family Community Outreach: A positive family activity where kids between the ages of 4-10 can learn how to surf, hear a bible based message, and take care of our environment by cleaning the beach. Our goal is to create a bridge to the Church and to have a positive impact on the community. Team members will help through lifeguarding, being a surf instructor, or playing with the kids on the beach.
Living Arrangements

During your time serving in Costa Rica, you’ll stay in a mission house. They have a number of rooms with beds, bathrooms and small kitchens. Please bring all your sheets, bedding, pillow and towel. 

Transportation

Your team will fly into San Jose, Costa Rica, where we’ll meet you at the airport. We will arrange all of the ground transportation to and from the airport, as well as to and from the ministry sites during the day.

Cooking

Your team might help out in the kitchen or you will have a local cook. Your breakfast will be cereal, bread, fruits, eggs, juice, and coffee. Your lunches will be peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, fruits, and chips. Your dinners will be prepared onsite or at a local restaurant.

Safety

The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., students must be with an adult at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. Our Project Leaders are trained in risk management and have access to both on-field and home-office support.

Registration and Payment

$500 Deposit: To reserve your trip, a $500 deposit is required. This deposit locks in your spot, and we’ll stay in touch to help you with all the preparations. The best part? This deposit goes toward the total cost of your trip.

50% Payment: Three months before your trip, half of the total cost will need to be paid.

100% Payment: The remaining balance is due two months before your trip.

We’re here to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

Meet Your Project Leader

An adult Project Leader will be assigned to your team throughout the duration of your trip. They will stay with you and your team, as well as engage daily with you throughout ministry and daily life activities. This leader will have strong missions experience, leadership experience and a demonstrated competence in the area of discipleship of youth and young adults. In most cases, your project leader will help with facilitating ministry, meals and daily debrief and devotional time. Your Project Leader will be assigned to your trip and you’ll have the opportunity to have conversations with them during the weeks leading up to your trip.
