The story
Why a women's mission trip to New Mexico.
New Mexico holds several Navajo reservations, and the one your team serves sits at 7,200 feet, with plenty of sun and blue sky. Our partners there are Navajo Brethren in Christ and Christian Worship Center, churches that have been serving their own people for years. You will hear Navajo and English spoken side by side.
Behind the scenery is real pain: addiction, families breaking down, and suicide rates that run very high, including among young people. The need, as our partners put it, is for a loving relationship with Jesus that leads to hope and purpose. On a women's mission trip to New Mexico your team hosts Beauty for Ashes retreats for local Navajo women and creates space for God to bring hope and healing.
You will learn to speak about worth, identity, healing, and forgiveness through your own storytelling and vulnerability. Beauty for Ashes has been doing exactly this since 2014, reaching more than 5,000 women in 60 countries by making safe places where stories are shared, connections are made, and grace is given. You will build relationships with your team and with the women you serve, and come home with a deeper understanding of God and of yourself as His daughter.
A trained Beauty for Ashes leader is with you all week, and three live virtual training sessions beforehand introduce the team and walk through the retreat sessions. Adventures in Missions has sent teams since 1989 and has long ties with Native American communities. You can drive or fly to Albuquerque, which makes this a reachable trip for women across the Southwest.

The work
What you'll do.
Women's Retreats
Storytelling on worth, identity, healing, and forgiveness
You will practice sharing your own story with vulnerability and invite Navajo women to share theirs.
Relationships across cultures
Meals, retreats, and down time at the church build friendships with your teammates and with the women of the reservation.
Preparing and serving meals
Your team helps prepare and serve every meal, which is part of the shared life of the week.
Programs
Who this trip is for.
This trip is for women ages 19 to 69 who want to serve Native American women without leaving the country, and who are comfortable in bunk beds and helping in the kitchen. Individuals and groups of friends are welcome, and no ministry experience is needed. Capacity is 15 to 20 women depending on the date.
Logistics
Where you'll stay, eat, and get around.
Lodging
You will stay at one of the two partner churches in bunk beds with showers and bathrooms. At Navajo Brethren in Christ you bring your own pillow, toiletries, and towel; electricity and spotty wifi are available. At Christian Worship Center beds, sheets, and pillows are provided and you bring toiletries and a towel; there is electricity but no wifi.
Meals
Your team helps prepare and serve all meals. Breakfast is cold cereal, fruit, bagels, and similar items; lunch is a packed sandwich, fruit, and a side carried to the ministry site; dinner is a hot meal prepared by the team.
Transportation
The destination is Bloomfield, New Mexico. You can drive, or fly into Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), where the trip leader meets you and drives you to the site. Drivers receive the ministry address and arrival window by email. Local transportation is arranged by the trip leader; air travel is your responsibility, and please wait for the flight-timing email before booking.

Internal and external risk management teams review every trip, your ministry partner provides location-specific safety guidelines, and your Beauty for Ashes leader is trained in risk management with support both on the field and from the home office. You will stay in pairs at all times. Adventures in Missions also monitors reporting agencies and follows the guidance of our ministry partners on the reservation.
