Chinle sits at the base of the Canyon de Chelly region of Arizona. It gets its name from the Navajo language where it means, “flowing out”, as Chinle Creek flows out of the mountains and into this rural Navajo community. It is nestled into the Four Corners area of the U.S. and is a place always welcoming geological tourism, hikers and historians.
Here we encourage you to join with local pastor, Jeff Rajca as He walks out his vision for reaching every Navajo teen and all the Navajo children in the Chinle region, and beyond. His goal is to train the Native teens to drive a vibrant children’s ministry. Your team will join him as he launches his first, major campaign in 18 years!
Jeff is rebuilding both the ministry and his own leadership team. He is discipling teens and training them to be leaders in their kids ministry programs. His ministry is expanding and reaching outlying churches which have proven to be excellent ministry points for our teams during missions.

This is relational ministry at its best!
Teams will sleep in the Sunday School rooms of the church on the floor. Bring a sleeping pad or air mattress, light sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and personal toiletries. It’s pretty rustic, but these kinds of conditions make better stories!
Breakfasts will be served cold: cereals, milk, sweet rolls, donuts, a variety of fresh fruit, cheeses, hot bagels and toast. Lunch will also be served cold and will include: meat and cheese sandwiches, with lettuce and tomato; with chips, fruit, cookies, lemonade, and purified (always) water. Teams will lay out the breakfasts and lunch makings every day.
Most supper meals will be hot meals, prepared by a local, hired cook, if one is available. Otherwise, your team will be responsible for cooking supper. You can work with our ministry partners to determine a meal menu.
Either Phoenix or Albuquerque airport will serve this location. Each has rental cars. If you are hoping to rent 15-passenger vans, do so well in advance.
The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., students must be with an adult at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. Our Project Leaders are trained in risk management and have access to both on-field and home-office support.
No inoculations or shots are required to enter Guatemala.
$500 Deposit: This deposit is required to reserve your trip. At this point, you will lock in your trip and we will keep in touch with you going forward about preparation. This deposit is applied to the total cost of your trip.
50% Payment: Half of your total trip cost will need to be paid 3 months before your trip.
100% Payment: The remaining balance is due 2 months before your trip.
An adult Project Leader will be assigned to your team throughout the duration of your trip. They will stay with you and your team, as well as engage daily with you throughout ministry and daily life activities. This leader will have strong missions experience, leadership experience and a demonstrated competence in the area of discipleship of youth and young adults. In most cases, your project leader will help with facilitating ministry, meals and daily debrief and devotional time. Your Project Leader will be assigned to your trip and you’ll have the opportunity to have conversations with them during the weeks leading up to your trip.
