August 2009 Update from Nsoko, Swaziland

The following is an update for those of you who support what Adventures In Missions is doing in Swaziland:

Real Life Missions Team

Picture of Nsoko, SwazilandWhile the college-age Real Life Missions team was here, we did a
clothing drive. 80 women, men and children were each given at least one
new clothing item. Some were given entire new outfits. Before each
person was taken to the area with their size, we washed their hands and
feet and faces. Afterward, each person was given an orange. (That may
not sound like much, but fruits are a treat here).

On July 18, there was a celebration for the team. A bull was killed to
feed all the children from eight care points, 48 cooks, and everyone
who wanted to come from the community. It was a time to thank God for
the sacrificial ministry of these young adults.

The team distributed first-aid kits and teaching materials to all the
care points, did home visitation to the sick, encouraged the weary,
helped with physical ailments, and prayed with people in the community
during their seven-week stay. They were a blessing not only to the
Swazis, but also those of us who serve full-time here in Swaziland.

Adult Missions Teams

The adult missions team led by AIM staffer Scott Borg came and finished
building a storehouse at Mahangeni care point. A young adult team led
by World Race alum Morgan McKeown arrived on July 23rd and ran a
VBS-like program for two weeks. They painted the new storehouse and
worked with the HIV/AIDS group on their memory books, which will be
left to their loved ones after they pass.

While a World Race team is here during the month of August, many of the
small construction projects will be completed.

A few blessings that we want to share with you are:

  • At this time, there are three college students in Swaziland that are being sponsored for their education.
  • The church has grown in numbers and maturity, thanks to the committed
help of the Real Life team that was here earlier in the summer.
  • The soccer team that Pastor Gift has been helping with is competing in
a community tournament against three other teams. These are the young
men that Pastor Gift has been mentoring. He has been building trust
with them and continues to be a consistent, godly example to each young
    man.

We covet your prayers and thank you for your partnership with
Adventures In Missions, particularly in the country of Swaziland.
