Cambodian Holidays

Just a quick update on the fabulous life of Jessi Seybert… This week was yet another Cambodian holiday and we got the week off from TransformAsia. Monday brought us the opportunity (thanks to our connection with Seang, praise God for his servant's heart!) to visit an orphanage here in Battambang. Unfortunately, most of the kids had gone to whatever home they had for the holiday, but even so, God gave us this opportunity to hear from the pastor's heart, play games with the few kids there, and make a God-centered connection that comes with the willing servant's heart in us all. Tuesday brought a surreal experience of being able to visit the Rapha House (a home where girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking or extreme sexual abuse are taken) and being able to hear the pastor there speak from the heart about what they do and how they do it. Just from the short time we spent there, it was evident God's love and grace and power flowed through the people who work here and onto the girls living there. Wednessday was Team Day! After an awesome day of swimming and braving the Bamboo Train, we got to have dinner together at Cafe Eden and just enjoy each other's company. Thursday we were taken 2 hours from the center to a "resort" to spend the day hanging out with the girls from the center. It was just a great day to swim in the river and spend time in community laughing with the girls and teaching Sotan how to swim. That night also kicked off something I have never experienced, a 24-hour prayer for Cambodia, lost people (here and back home), and just praising God for what He has done and continues to do in us. Art was created, we called out to God, He answered, and our prayers were powerful because they were for the glory of our God. There wasn't a doubt in my mind about that, but seeing the power of our prayers first hand just reaffirmed the belief that our prayers are heard and through Christ, our prayers are powerful enough to move mountains.

One passage that came to me during one of my designated hours is found in Isaiah. Isaiah 55:10-13 to be exact… "The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands! Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where briers grew, myrtles will sprout up. This miracle will bring great honor to the Lord's name; it will be an everlasting sign of His power and love." I am so thankful God has sent me to be the rain and snow that softens the ground and provides nourishment for the plants to grow and sprout. God has chosen me to spread His word… God has chosen someone who has been broken and scarred to spread His love and show His grace. With God behind me, nothing stands in my way. Because I hold the power of the Lord in my heart, everywhere I go must be for His glory. Everywhere I go, everywhere this team goes, the thorns will waste away and the briers will wither and die, and in their place God will raise up the cypress trees and myrtles. Redemption and healing is coming for Cambodia. I can feel it, and because we have God and His infinite power in us, I know it.
