College Missions: What to Do in 2012

Summer’s winding down and if you’re 18-22 years old, chances are, another (or your first) semester of college is beginning.
Soon, it will be Thanksgiving, then Christmas, and before we know it…
a new year. As one year ends and a new one approaches, we tend to consider our priorities, promises, and even shortcomings.
Every January 1st, millions around the world (if not billions) make resolutions about how this year will be different, how it will be better.
But will it?

It’s
not too soon to be thinking about your plans for 2012, especially if you’re
daring enough to lay down your own agenda and see what God’s agenda for you might be. If you’re wondering how to make 2012 more significant than 2011, here are a few things you could do (click the links to learn more, if you’re up for the challenge, that is):

For four months, you could serve the poor in Kolkata, India or work with victims & survivors of human trafficking in Thailand.

You could spend your spring in Africa and let your heart to break
with the things that break God’s heart by visiting one of the world’s
largest slums in Kenya or confront realities like HIV/AIDS and child sacrifice in Uganda.

You might even stay closer to home for the first third of the year by caring for our neighbors in Latin America through ministering to the families that live in slum communities in Nicaragua.

There are countless opportunities to serve in 2012, which will be here before you know it. A few months in the mission field might be all it takes to turn your life around.

Are you up for it?
