That’s great. It starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes and aeroplanes…
But I’m wondering if the growing number of these discussions is any indicator of a new season of ministry for the church that may provide new opportunities for the kingdom of God to advance.
Are we approaching the end of short term missions, or not?
This thinking has prompted us at AIM to ask some questions that are really challenging our ministry:
- Are mission trips becoming passe?
- Do they still really fulfill the Great Commission?
- Have short-term missions ceased being remarkable?
- What would take the place of mission trips?
Our ministry has always prided itself on taking risks and staying on the
cutting edge of missions, sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit and new things God might be doing through the global church.
In other words, as the song says, if this is the end of short-term missions, we want to know.
What do you think? Is this the end of missions as we know it? Or just another season?
