An Open Letter to Supporters from the Manager

Hello!!

IF you are reading this, it is because you know a student at the World Race Discipleship & Leadership Training Academy (WR DLTA). As the WR DLTA manager, I want to take this opportunity to explain what DLTA is and why we exist so that you can better understand how you can join them on the journey and why you should!

World Race DLTA exists to develop mature disciples of Jesus Christ who are activated in their calling and purpose in the Kingdom of God.

This is our goal!! We begin by building a solid foundation in understanding and interpreting Scripture. This piece of discipleship is so neglected in our ministry! Almost none of our students come in with the Hermeneutics or even Inductive Bible study skills. It is one of the fundamental pieces of discipleship that is neglected with our youth, and we work hard to give them the opportunity to grow considerably in this by taking a college level hermeneutics course.

From here we spend time building what I call “Discipleship 101” tools. Students receive and use the tools themselves and then are likewise equipped to pass those on to whoever they disciple in the future. These tools include:

  • Understanding and solidifying identity in Christ
  • How to actually forgive and release others
  • How to recognize sin and repent readily
  • Identifying and breaking habitual and generational sin patterns
  • Overcoming fear and anxiety
  • How to identify emotional/relational wounds and receive healing from Jesus
  • How to identify spiritual oppression, be set free, and set others free

We also train students in wholistic living so they improve their “adulting” skills and ability to care for themselves by:

  • Training in physical, emotional, spiritual and relational health
  • How to create healthy habits and rhythms
  • Living in community
  • Having to grocery shop and manage a budget (many of them for the first time!)
  • Finding ways to serve others in everyday life with required service hours
  • Training in financial planning from a professional!

Finally, at the end of all this we explore what the Kingdom of God is and what their role might be in the Kingdom. We spend a lot of time in reflection on the things that stir their hearts, what skills they have (or need to pursue), their natural gifts, and aspirations in the Kingdom. They finish the semester with a Capstone project where they are able to explore what they perceive their calling to be and we take time with 1-1 Coaching at the end of it to evaluate and help them make a plan for the future.

Students are also given lots of opportunity to grow in their leadership skills by:

  • Leadership roles within the class and their community
  • Leading a retreat to care for one another during the semester
  • Leading a service week (sometimes local, sometimes we travel regionally for this). They are responsible for handling details and executing a week in service to others!
  • Required presentations and other teaching opportunities
  • An optional leadership club where students dive into leadership skills that will serve them the rest of their lives!

Now that you have a better understanding of what it is we do, in case you are not already convinced, this is why you should invest in a DLTA student:

Our students are passionate disciples of Christ. They want to serve Him with their lives, but they don’t always know how to do that. At DLTA we are helping them build a boat. They need a vessel that can weather the storms of life that come their way and still hold on to Jesus. They need to repair any holes in the hull of their soul. They need to know how to open up their sails to have the Holy Spirit move through them into a world that needs the light of the Gospel. And they need a map, or at least a compass, to direct them to the places they can partner with God to see the Kingdom come to earth as it is in Heaven.

Investing in a DLTA student is investing in their impact in the Kingdom for the REST OF THEIR LIVES. Every life they touch will be directly impacted through the time they took to build their boat. We hope that you, as an investor of a student, will understand the long term significance of your investment. And we hope that you, as an investor, will encourage them in their journey. That you would pray for them, because this important work is not only difficult, but the culture and the enemy do not want seafaring vessels taken to the ends of the earth. But we are here to build boats and send them out: whether across the street or around the world.

Will you partner with your student by investing in their time at WR DLTA?

You can’t sail without a strong vessel. At DLTA, you’ll build it piece by piece, until you’re ready to launch into your calling.

🛠

Phase 1: The Hull

Biblical Foundation & Identity

Before you can go anywhere, your boat needs a solid frame. This is about knowing who God is, who you are in Him, and what it means to follow Jesus for real.

Key Focus

🌬

Phase 2: The Sails

Holy Spirit & Leadership Empowerment

A boat without sails can’t move. You’ll learn to be led by the Spirit, walk in obedience, and develop the leadership skills needed to bring others along with you through practical apprenticeship.

Key Focus

🧭

Phase 3: The Compass

Discerning Your Calling & Going Out

It’s time to launch. You’ll take everything you’ve learned and step into the mission God has for you—whether that’s local, global, or somewhere in between.

Key Focus
Missions, outreach, discovering your calling, Kingdom impact

“The enemy doesn’t want seafaring vessels launched into the world. Culture wants you to stay on the shore—drifting, distracted, going nowhere. But that’s not your calling.”

STUDENT STORIES

Life-Changing Experiences

Hear directly from those who’ve experienced transformation through the DLTA program.

Identity

“God showed me a lot about my identity and the things I had attached to it that didn’t belong. God gave me a clearer picture of the words he’s spoken over me from the beginning and reopened my eyes to a place of childlike faith and childlike identity.”

Leadership

“I learned so much about what it looks like to emotionally lead people well because of the ways leadership was working to lead people emotionally well, the introspective things we did as a class and individually. This is something I wouldn’t have been very confident in or felt effective in before CGA. Now I feel much more equipped.”

Healing

“The Lord did a lot of healing with my identity during CGA. He has pointed out a lot of places of striving that I am living in. He has done a lot of healing with my past and how that affected the way I view my identity.”

Community

“before cga… i didn’t have a healthy perspective of what community looked like. if people were only going to be in my life for a short time, why bother getting to know them or allowing them to get to know me, I mean the real, raw, transparent me? Also when i became vulnerable in the past i just got hurt, so why even try? after cga… ive come to realize, idolizing my self sufficiency and independence kept me from having authentic community. in my desperation of searching for community it has led me to the revelation i don’t need to look for community, it is all around me. i just didn’t see it.”

Relationship with God

“The Lord began to show me what it looked like to be fathered by Him!”

Creativity

“Bro he made see colors it’s wild. I tapped into more of a creative aspect with the Lord.”

Vulnerability

“i have learned the importance of community but also leaning on them in a way that ties with the Lords healing. Walking in the light and being vulnerable is something the Lord walked me through and continues to do so, and i think there’s a lot of freedom found in that.”

Kingdom Purpose

“I have begun to understand my self and my position in the kingdom.”

Inner Healing

“Probably the healing I had been going this whole semester inward and how I can now recognize and know how to address and take care of those wounds.”

Transformation

“I learned so much from the biblical studies and loved changing my perspective with things. I loved the group discussions and I think that the ownership weeks were my favorite. The service week we did in North Carolina might be my favorite week of Cga, it was so amazing to look up after soul care and to pour out into the kingdom.”
