New Hampshire is a state rich in history that comes alive in the fall. The city of Manchester offers a unique multicultural opportunity with a growing New American and refugee population. Since 1994, New Hampshire has welcomed and resettled nearly 8,000 refugees, primarily from Afghanistan, Syria, Burma, Iraq, and Somalia.
Yet, within the heart of southern New Hampshire, there’s also great brokenness—poverty, drug and alcohol addiction, and widespread hopelessness. Our ministry partners and local churches share one goal: to see the city and its people transformed by the love of Jesus.
Many of the women living on the streets of Manchester, NH, are facing layers of hardship that go far beyond homelessness. They struggle with addiction, mental health challenges, and deep past trauma that has left them without stable support systems. Many move between shelters, temporary housing, or the streets—seeking safety, dignity, and a sense of belonging. Despite the harshness of their circumstances, these women carry incredible resilience and powerful stories of survival. Ministries all over the city are coming together to meet their needs, bringing the light and love of Jesus into dark and broken places.

The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., participants must be in pairs at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. You’ve got a story to tell. It’s significant, powerful, and you want it to count for something. That’s exactly how Ruth and her team felt on the very first Beauty for Ashes trip in 2014. They wanted to see women set free from the lies they had believed for years. On that trip, Ruth met a woman named Nancy. She realized this new friend had a story in need of God’s redemption. After her time with Ruth, Nancy began believing God’s truth — her story does matter.
Psalm 107:2 says “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” Since 2014, Beauty for Ashes has reached over 5,000 women in 60 countries because of people like you, who are willing to share their story of redemption. We’ve hosted hundreds of retreats and small groups around the world, and have seen our curriculum proven as an effective tool God is using to foster lasting change in the lives of women.
If you want to join a Christ-centered community of women committed to sharing God’s love to all of the nations, then it’s time for you to join us in Albania.
