South Asia has one of the fastest growing economies in the world, but this growth comes at a cost. Despite a growing middle class, a terrible rift exists between the rich and poor of this mainly Hindu country. More than just dollars and lifestyles, this gap began generations ago in the caste system, and it has left the lower-caste people of South Asia without hope.
In South Asian culture, daughters are viewed as costly. Not only is a girl’s family expected to pay the expense associated with raising her but a bride-price, although outlawed, is still commonly expected by her future husband’s family. In far too many cases, baby girls are killed or abandoned. Orphanages are filled with girls who have been abandoned by their families and are desperate for love and attention. Women, in general, are treated as second-class citizens, as South Asia has a traditional, patriarchal society. They are expected to serve their husbands, as well as cook, clean, and take care of their children.
The women of South Asia need to know the truth about their worth and God’s great love for them.

Details about women’s mission trips with Adventures in Missions
In partnership with our Adventures South Asia Base, you will develop deep and meaningful relationships with the South Asian women you’ll minister to—and with your own team. You can invest your time, love, and energy into this community of women confident that your efforts will be sustainable because of the long term presence of our ongoing women’s ministry in South Asia.
Your team will:
Come with a servant’s heart and a willingness to do whatever is needed. Each day may look different and things might change day-to-day depending on the need.
Your team will spend the first and last nights of your trip in Hyderabad at a local guesthouse. This lodging is comfortable and offers basic bedding, pillows, and towels.
For the remaining part of the trip, your team will travel to a village where lodging will be much more rustic. You will need to bring your own sleeping pad, sheet, pillow, and towel. Please be aware there will not be western-style toilets or air conditioning, however, there will be fans and electricity.
When in Hyderabad the team will have a granola bar, fruit, coffee or chai tea for breakfast and eat out for lunch and dinner. In the village a local cook will prepare meals for the team.
We will provide purified water. Make sure you are drinking continuously, even when you do not feel thirsty. You will need to bring a reusable water bottle for the week.
Your team will fly into Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD). Your trip leader will meet you and set up transportation to the ministry site. As the trip gets closer you will receive an email with a specific meeting location within the airport. Do not purchase your flight until you have received an email with the arrival and departure times.
All local transportation will be arranged for by your trip leader. Air transportation is the participant’s responsibility.
The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., participants must be in pairs at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. Our Project Leaders are trained in risk management and have access to both on-field and home-office support.
$27 Deposit: This deposit is applied to the total cost of your trip and is required to reserve your trip. The deposit is due a week after you have been accepted to the trip. Acceptance typically happens at the end of your phone interview.
50% Payment: Half of your total trip cost will need to be paid 6 weeks before your trip.
100% Payment: The remaining balance is due 1 month before your trip.
Three live virtual training sessions are required for this trip. Typically the training sessions are hosted during the week in the early evening. Once your trip’s launching is confirmed, you will be provided the dates and time for the training.
During the training you will be introduced to your trip leader and your team. The team will walk through retreat sessions and learn the lay out of Beauty for Ashes retreats.
You’ve got a story to tell. It’s significant, powerful, and you want it to count for something. That’s exactly how Ruth and her team felt on the very first Beauty for Ashes trip in 2014. They wanted to see women set free from the lies they had believed for years. On that trip, Ruth met a woman named Nancy. She realized this new friend had a story in need of God’s redemption. After her time with Ruth, Nancy began believing God’s truth — her story does matter.
Psalm 107:2 says “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” Since 2014, Beauty for Ashes has reached over 5,000 women in 60 countries because of people like you, who are willing to share their story of redemption. We’ve hosted hundreds of retreats and small groups around the world, and have seen our curriculum proven as an effective tool God is using to foster lasting change in the lives of women.
If you want to join a Christ-centered community of women committed to sharing God’s love to all of the nations, then it’s time for you to join us in Albania.
