What’s the base like?

Our base in Guatemala offers a delightful blend of comfort, warmth, and charm. The sleeping quarters feature cozy bunk-bed rooms equipped with bathrooms and showers with hot water. The base also includes a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, and living room, all seamlessly integrated into one inviting space.

Drinking water won’t be a problem for you at this site! A purification system has been built into the base infrastructure, so it doesn’t matter if you forget to brush your teeth with the water. Every faucet (including the showers) put out clean and purified drinking water.

For recreation, the base has a small basketball court and a soccer field, providing endless opportunities for activities and fun. Surrounding the base, ample space invites both solitude and social gatherings, perfect for enjoying quiet moments or the company of friends and family.

Safety, Always!

We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that the base is safe for anyone, even young children. It’s walled in on four sides, with barbed wire at the top and electric fencing around the bottom. Security cameras have been installed at strategic locations around the base and a security guard lives on-site, monitoring the comings and goings at all times. At night, a motion sensor alarm is set. During a recent mission trip some clothes were left hanging on the line when a gust of wind came along and set it off!

Finally, there is a gate with an intercom system for guests. Anyone coming in has to push the intercom button and announce themselves. Our family trip in the summer of 2024 had 17 kids from 18 months to 9 years old running around the base without a care in the world, and their parents were able to rest easy at night.

Will we have a guide?

Yes! A staff member from Adventures in Missions will be with you every step of the way to ensure that you have an incredible experience. They will facilitate transportation, ministry opportunities and all meals.

Childcare

If you choose to bring your kids, you will be able to fully immerse yourself into a missional lifestyle with the loving help of Guatemalan caregivers. These intentional, kind women of God will join us in ministry and during our time at the base to ensure the little ones have an incredible time and that the parents have the capacity to serve in the ministry!

What kind of ministry will we do?

Influencer’s will be connected with local Guatemalan families who are part of our CarePoints. You will have the opportunity to minister to these families whether it’s installing a stove to alleviate smoke inhalation, helping to plant seeds for next year’s crop, joining a children’s program, or praying with them and watching God move – there is no shortage of things to do!

What’s the weather like?

October is the rainy season in Guatemala so expect sporadic showers. The days are mild with cooler evenings and warmer days.

How’s the food?

Every meal is covered and they are delicious! Expect chicken prepared a variety of ways (fried, baked, grilled), rice, beans, fresh fruits and vegetables, and plenty of tortillas.  We can make adjustments for any diet, so just let us know and we’re happy to accommodate.

Where will we stay?

Each influencer (plus family if you choose to bring them) will have a room with a private bathroom. Each room has its own full bathroom (yes, it has a shower) with hot water.

Adventure Day in Antigua

Spend the day exploring Mayan ruins, enjoying local cuisine and perusing the markets of Antigua. You will love the cobblestone streets and gorgeous architecture that this ancient city has to offer. The trip into the city is a highlight for every kid and parent!
