8 Reasons to Get off the Couch this Summer

Summer may feel out of reach, but we know the thought of summertime fun and freedom has crossed your mind a time or two since the springtime sun first hit your face this season. But if you’re 14-18 years old (or know someone who is) and thinking about going on a mission trip this summer, time is running out.

Going on a mission trip is a big deal. Whether it’s the next state over or across the pond, we guarantee your trip with Ambassadors will be an experience like no other. Why, you ask? Here are some reasons: 

1. While your friends are sitting at home watching reruns of the Kardashians or Duck Dynasty, you’ll be living your own adventurous reality — not a reality TV show. 

2. You could work on your tan at the pool, but how about getting a tan while feeding the hungry in Swaziland? Or loving on orphans in Guatemala? 

3. Dylan broke up with Olivia for Emma who loves Hunter who actually likes Alexis who is crushing on Joey. But none of that matters because you’re going to the Emerald Isle to help establish Irish youth centers. 

4.  Put down your phone! Instead of ordering pizza — again — you’ll be feasting your taste buds on exotic foods like mamones, paella, chapatti, or cassava. 

5. Bean there, done that. Connect with at-risk youth through outreach in locations boasting famous landmarks like the Cloud Gate at Chicago’s Millennium Park.  

6. Dreaming of vacationing at a tropical island this summer? Yeah, how about 7,000 of ‘em? Come work alongside local organizations like Kids International Ministries or connect with refugees and abused women on the scenic islands of the Philippines. 

7. Heard of Invisible Children? Well don’t just wear a bracelet or t-shirt to raise awareness, how about going to the country where it all started: Uganda. Bring the hope and light of Christ to people in need of more than food, education, or healthcare. 

8. Don’t waste time shopping for the best brands at the mall when you can discover who you really are as son or daughter of God. Learn to hear his voice and respond to his call.
