Cliche But True

Well people prepare yourself for the most cliché and typical missionary post of your life. I’m about to tell you how blessed I truly am after being here, even after such a short time. I know what you’re thinking “oh great another missionary telling me how I need to eat all my food because there are starving child in Africa”, but that’s NOT what I want to say at all.

So here we go, I was sitting at the dump today talking to this family while they ate lunch. (When I say talking I mean barely picking up any of their Spanish but hearing bits and piecing and putting it together) While talking to them I asked the oldest boy who was not older than 8 why he wasn’t eating his lunch that we gave him. His response was that he was going to give it to his papa who was in the dump collecting money.

One word for that. WOW.

How could an 8 year old boy be more concerned of his dad eating rather than himself? How could he not be starving, considering he probably hasn’t eaten in while? How could this precious little boy be so selfless at such a young age? Why has God blessed me with so much and them practically nothing?

God and I talked about it and I explained how this just wasn’t fair and this is NEVER an okay situation. God being gentle and patient with my whininess replied with “everybody is blessed child, you are blessed differently than them, and you just don’t see it. You’re looking at material blessing rather than emotionally and spiritually blessed.’’

Today I thank God for so many things in my life for what he has given me materialistically, emotionally, and spiritually. He has blessed me in such a way that I don’t have to worry about where my next meal will come from. He has blessed me by romancing my heart and loving me just because He loves me. The list goes on and on, but be challenged fellow readers.Give some good thought to ways you are blessed and thank God for even just the simple things.

Hebrews 12:28 So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.
