Hola a mis amigos en los Estados Unidos!!

Hola!!

I have been in Guatemala for almost 2 weeks! Wow! Since I posted last week, a lot has happened as far as ministry goes. So much that I forget a lot of it! But this week we got to go to the garbage dump for the first time. Pastor Roni (who is the pastor we are working with) said around 75 families live and work there. They collect the recyclables and get paid for it. It is so sad. Lots of the children don't go to school because they have to work to earn money for their families. The first time we went there we just walked around and invited the kids to an event on Thursday that we would be having there. We prayed with the people also. You could not even imagine how dirty and sad this place is. There is trash everywhere and little shacks surround the place. I wish these peoeple could get out of this mess, but I know God is in control and I'm learning to trust Him with this kind of stuff. My heart just breaks for these people though. This week we also got to meet up wtih another missionary team from the States. With them, we visited an orphanage where we got to hold babies. Then we went to the Children's hospital and did a skit for some of the mothers and their sick children. We talked with them and prayed with them. After that, we went back to the garbage dump and taught the kids there some songs and did a few skits. I am excited to keep going back and build relationships with the kids and their families. Yesterday has been one of my favorite days so far. We went to several different bars and talked to prostitutes there. At first, I was discouraged because the first few ladies I talked to were not very receptive and didn't say much. But the last lady I talked to wanted us to read the Bible to her. She said she wanted to know more about God. So I read Pslam 23 and 63 to her. I couldn't believe she would ask this! It gave me so much hope. She allowed us to pray for her and I hope to see her and all these women again each week this summer. I am praying God will break their chains and set them free from the lives they live. Please keep the people of Guatemala in your prayers! They need God so much, and I know somehow, some way, He will show up.

On a lighter note, I love Guatemala! It's beautiful! There are mountains, palm trees, the ocean, and lots of bugs! haha. I thought I would lose weight while here, but I eat a popsicle just about every day! Also, they have delicious chocobananos, which are frozen bananas covered in chocolate. YUM! I'm having a blast on my free time playing games with my team and worshipping. My team is amazing and I'm really enjoying getting to know them more and let our friendships grow deeper.

Thank you so much to all of my supporters who have helped me get here and to all those who are praying for me and my team. You have no idea how grateful I am and how much you mean to me!

Lots of love from Guatemala!
