I can’t help but smile every time I think about my time in Honduras. For a short amount of four days that we stayed in Puerto Cortez, i felt so much love and joy from these wonderful people. From the moment we met the Burgos family to visiting iglesias to finally going home with a little treat at the beach, we were all covered with the generosity of the Honduran people.
Some of us were sick before the trip and even though the thought of going to another country sounds really good, some were still not thrilled. I, on the other hand, was excited to go. God has been revealing more of Him and that He wants me to see how fun and exciting He can be. I went with no expectations but only with my heart open for His adventure for me. And let me just tell you how good God is!!!
Something about the atmosphere in Puerto Cortez makes you want to smile back at the people because they can’t help but smile at you. They were always giving you large amounts of food and the kids kept hugging and giving you kisses like true brothers and sisters.
The churches were very united and helped one another. They are living and patiently waiting for their ultimate Bridegroom. As one body and as one bride, they present themselves to their Ultimate Creator and Father.
But one thing that really blessed me a lot was the generosity of the Burgos family. From our first day to the last day, they were with and for us like a family. Pstr. Martial Burgos introduced us to his family and his church and welcomed us with open arms. On our very last night, we were scheduled to do a skit and sing some songs like we’ve been doing the past days, but instead the church offered a special tribute and thanksgiving for us. Im not gonna lie that we’ve been driven to many churches and schools but they were so kind to appreciate what we’ve been doing for them and the community. They even made us bracelets with our names on it. On top of that, we were served with good food and oh that chicken that Mama Burgos made — soo delicious!!!!!
The next day which was our last day, we went to the beach for a little bit and found out that the Burgos family was gonna drive us all the way to the border of Guatemala!!!! TOO MUCH!!
I am very thankful for this wonderful experience and for our good God who is continually touching people’s hearts for His glory!
Emily, Taylor & i having fun at the beach!!!
