Through AIM’s strategic relationship with 24-7 Ministries (the youth ministry of Awana), these 6th grade mission trips are offered exclusively to churches partnering with and using the Awana program.
Designed with a specific focus of helping to bridge the gap between elementary and middle school, these mission trips help church leaders develop connections between their Awana Clubs program and their youth ministry staff. If your church is currently running Awana Clubs, don’t let great discipleship end at 6th grade!
Bridge the gap through Adventures in Missions’ 6th grade mission trips.
I grew up in the AWANA program, from Cubbies all the way through 6th grade (what’s now the T&T program). I remember doing the projects in the back of each book that related to mission work, all the while thinking it was cool for others but had little to do with me. But AWANA made it clear that mission work starts wherever you are at any moment, and through those sections I learned to start serving without ever leaving the country.
Right before graduating from college, I dreaded the idea of going back home and being sucked into the routine of a ‘normal’ life. I don’t know what prompted me to search the internet one night for long-term mission trips, but when I did I came across AIM’s 9-month program in Nicaragua. Though I originally applied to escape from the boredom of what I thought would be my future, God quickly brought me to a place where He could capture my heart for Himself and for the people of Nicaragua. My team is wonderful and has challenged me in my faith and integrity more than I ever imagined they would. It’s been awesome to be in situations where the verses that I remember from AWANA are brought to mind. What I learned studying with AWANA, AIM is allowing me to apply to all areas of my life in the mission field, ‘rightly dividing the word of truth.’
