New Resource for Youth Workers

“Go out and train everyone you
meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the
threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the
practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this,
day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” (Matthew
28:18-20, The Message)

Missions and discipleship go hand in hand, like peanut butter and jelly.

What is it about spending a week in
the mountains of southern Mexico, sleeping on a dirt floor of a church,
singing and listening in a third language, going without a shower or a
flushing toilet for a week that brings you closer to God and His people?

Sometimes, those who go or have gone
on short-term missions find it easier to follow Jesus on the field than
at home. We want to change that.

Those first endeavors into
short-term missions while in youth group can lead to a lasting legacy of
building and extending God’s Kingdom, if the experiences are applied
appropriately.

Our new Youth Workers blog
aims (no pun intended) to be a resource for anyone in youth ministry —
parents, pastors, and lay leaders — to exchange ideas on how to
disciple young people. AIM desires to cultivate the synergy between
missions and discipleship, especially amongst the next generation.

It goes without saying that not
every student who goes on missions will end up in full-time ministry.
But AIM sees short-term missions as the greenhouse where seeds of
lifelong discipleship can begin to grow, some of which will sprout and
grow into flourishing plants.

We want to see that happen and would love
for you to join us in sharing ideas.
