No Passport Required: Refugee Ministry in Atlanta

Second star on the left, then straight on till morning…

Talk about jet lag. Far and away may be where Neverland is, but how about a culture-filled mission trip without ever leaving the U.S.?

Did you know that the United States takes in between 60,000-80,000 foreign refugees each year?

Political unrest has led hundreds of people groups to the United States. Refugees from around the world have sought America for safety and freedom. Most of these refugees come from Iran, Burma, Somalia and Bhutan, often practicing the Muslim faith.

Your youth group can be a part of reaching people from around the globe right here.

Adventures Youth designs its programs so your youth group will encounter three main ministry elements during their trip:
  • Lead
  • Coach
  • Serve
Atlanta is home to so many things we love like Coca-Cola and the 1996 Summer Olympics. It is a melting pot of cultural diversity where Southern charm meets urban sprawl. It is also home to over 40,000 refugees from all over the world seeking a fresh start in the Atlanta metro area.

Many of these refugees come from countries in Africa and the Middle East. Many will also find themselves lost in the mix of the big city lacking personal, in-depth relationships, or any love at all.

Give your teenagers a unique opportunity. During trips to Atlanta, youth are encouraged to rise up and take hold of their faith as they lead refugee children in ministry. Adventures Youth will provide curriculum for your students to teach these children about a real relationship with Christ and living life for Him.

Wherever there is cross-cultural interaction, there is diversity and always something new to learn. But there seems to be one thing that is true around the world: kids love to play.

With Adventures Youth mission programs, your youth group will also be able to connect to refugee children and teenagers through interactive sports ministry. They will develop relationships with local refugees who are looking to improve their skills and have some fun, all while making a friend in the process.

Connecting with those in need will bring out the leader in your youth as they coach sports and share their faith with refugees in the local community. What’s a more fun way to show the love of Christ this summer than through coaching sports! Play ball!

Do something different with your youth group this summer. Challenge them to take what you teach all year and put it into practice as they lead refugee ministry according to the voice of God, in places that draw out the leader within them.

Will your youth group be the leaders that make a difference? Adventures Youth is ready to get your journey started to change the nations with NO passport required!
