One of the core things we like participants in each of our programs to experience is a feeling of deep community. For our college aged students participating in
Real Life this spring, the goal is no different.
As the most recent group of
Real Life participants dives into ministry all over the world, they’re also finding a ministry that may have been unexpected: the ministry of each other.
Daily they live together, share their stories, and bring in God’s Kingdom. They face trials together, celebrate together, and love together. By doing this they realize that living for something more sometimes means authentically living out your faith among those who most closely surround you.
Here’s what a couple of these Real Life participants have to say about living in community.
Sickness struck us the second day. My
family didn’t miss a beat. We immediately started praying. We
prayed for strength and endurance. We prayed for healing and unity.
We prayed for power and joy. We didn’t give up. We didn’t become
discouraged. A few days later, we are all together again. Everyone is
feeling better and doing well. The power of Jesus Christ that is
inside of each one of us proved itself mighty! God heard our cries.
God saw our faith. The enemy knows that we are not easily shaken.
-Ashley Varner, Real Life Kenya
I don’t think I’ve ever really
understood the importance of unity until this week. Being that I live
in a group of nine women we are constantly bonding and I’m starting
to recognize what can be accomplished when we are one in Christ.
Like Kristin says, unity in Christ can accomplish some pretty amazing things.
What about you? Are you ready to live in authentic community?
If you’re a college student looking for something more, join an upcoming Real Life trip and learn firsthand how living in community can change the way you look at the world.
