This week has been a slower week, with a lot of time spent reading, worshiping and getting to know my teammates more. I guess ¨longer term¨ trips are sort of like that. Not every day is packed with endless activities and things to do.
It´s been interesting and different, but I do think God is using it for the good of our team. Time to know Him deeper. Time to really examine our hearts. I know for me personally He has used some of this down time for me to really come face to face with Him. It´s good, but scary too. I´m realizing that when God calls you to go deeper with Him, it requires sacrifice. Things that are hard to give up. It´s almost like He calls us to give up what´s good for what´s better.
I´m not exactly sure what all this means quite yet, but it is what God is teaching me right now and what is on my heart to share with you all.
One quick story, another one from our garbage dump visit this week. When asking one woman if we could pray for her, I felt God telling me to ask her if she even knew Jesus or had a relationhip with Him. ¨No¨she said. I then asked if she would want to? Her friends that she was with both said no, but she didn´t say anything. She said that she had a problem. She told us how she had cancer in her brain. Now see, God is so good, because I was then able to tell this woman how my mom had also had cancer and that Jesus, the man we were inviting her into a relationship with, had healed my mom. She looked surprised. We told her more about Jesus and HIs love for her and then the woman said yes, that she´d like to know Jesus and ask Him into her life.
God is so good and I have faith that He will heal that woman of her cancer. I know He will also use it to draw others in that community to Him. God is so good!!
