The Struggle to Surrender

Hello there,
I saw a quote by A.W. Tozer that said, “To see the glory of God, there must be self sacrifice involved.” Going farther in God is never something easily attained. It’s uncomfortable, messy, frustrating, scary, a test of trust, and death is involved….a death of me. Death of my fears, worries, plans, desires, SELFISHNESS, comfort, and ease. The path we walk on becomes more narrow and we are more aware of ourselves and where our feet lead us. We realize that the fear and stress surrounding us can’t fit on this path any longer. We realize that we can no longer bring our personal items of comfort with us. We must leave the box we put God in behind us. We must leave our inflated views of ourselves behind. We must put others first on this path. And then, when we are stripped of everything, the Holy Spirit provides the path-approved items. His peace, joy, and resting place that He places WITHIN us. A trust to not stray from the path because we trust that His will is above all else. A steadfast gaze upon our Savior that satisfies our souls. Surrendered hands that don’t desire to turn and pick up the comfort items behind us.
This trip has revealed so much in my heart, the good and the bad. I hope to come back carrying less of my personal comfort items and more of His Spirit. I want to be less caught up in material things that leave me empty anyway. Take this world and just give me JESUS. I encourage you to ask The Lord what unnecessary items you are carrying. Surrender all to Him, no matter the sacrifice.
The cost is great, oh but His glory is worth it all.
