“…you will know that the LIVING GOD is among you and that He will without fail drive out from before you [all of your enemies].” Joshua 3:10
Did you catch that? God promises His children, that if they trust in Him, He will without fail defeat all of their enemies. Those personal demons of your past that keep rearing their ugly heads will be destroyed. Those lies that Satan whispers in your ear about how you are not good enough and God isn’t either will be silenced. That one sin that you struggle with the most and can’t seem to overcome will be overcome forever.
All of this sounds great and I used to think that it was too good to be true and not for me. So, how can this amazing victory be a reality? Three words…
The Living God.
THE Living God.
The LIVING God.
The Living GOD.
If God is alive, that means He is active and if He’s God, that means He’s powerful and if He’s your God, that means He is active and powerful for you—on your behalf! This verse doesn’t say that we have to defeat all of our enemies by ourselves; it says that GOD will defeat our enemies for us! Yes, He really does love us so much that He will fight our battles for us. He will fight in our place. He died for us, so He will definitely fight for us too.
Okay, practical question here—what must we do to get God to fight for us? I’ve spent years asking this question and I think I’ve found the answer. Trust. Trust God’s love for you. Trust God’s desire to fight for you. Trust God’s power to be victorious over your enemies. Trust. Trust. Trust.
I was sick this past week which meant that I had a lot of time to think and to be tempted and tried. Satan threw just about everything he could at me—and I am SO happy to say that I was victorious over him this week because I finally trusted God to fight for me. I picture myself locking eyes with Jesus Christ and getting lost in their depth, love, and power. When I lock eyes with Christ, all of the crap and temptation around me just falls away. When I lock eyes with Christ, I’m trusting that He is better than anything I’m being tempted with, that He’s more powerful than the Tempter who is tempting me and that He seriously loves to love me and to be loved by me. Oh, man! What incandescent joy and overflowing freedom there is to experience if you trust the one and only Living God who lives and breathes and fights for you and on your behalf!
“Come to Me, all who are wearied and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
Stop fighting a battle that you cannot win on your own.
Let God fight for you.
He will win and His victory will be yours,
if you trust in Him to fight for you.
So, trust.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me!
I love you all!
