This past week has been a life changing experience. We got on a bus for eight hours and made our way to the historic beautiful city of Antigua, Guatemala. As a team we felt burdened and just a weight was over us and we were emotionally and physically drowning in it. The city Puerto Barrios left a dark spiritual heaviness on each and every one of us. As we arrived in Antigua it was like a dream to say the least. It was so beautiful and turning every corner made me fall in love with the city!
Nick and Ashley flew down to join our team last week also to be there for support. They were amazing by the way. Anyway, one night we all got together as a group and had a time to share about what was happening in our lives and about the past month we had experienced in Puerto Barrios. As we all started sharing and a lot just came out and we all realized that we need a change in our team. A desperate need for change I might add. A weight got lifted and we all realized that what happened in the past month we are going to leave behind and start on a clean slate. No more complaining! No more feeling emotionally and physically tired all the time! No more speaking words of death but words of life! And everyday just fight for our team and fighting against the devil. We radically change as a team and just soaked in what we needed to hear. It was amazing! The rest of the week was absolutely amazing; it was so freeing and liberating every day. I did a lot of walking around and exploring the city and also a lot of shopping too. One day a couple of my teammates went and hiked up a volcano near Guatemala City and it was an experience of a life time! So amazing and how glorious is God’s creation. It took my breath away. We had to travel back in pitch black hiking down the mountain now that was an adventure too. But on the last day I walk back from a café and I was just talking to God as if he was right next to me and I just thanked him over and over again for what he is doing in my life and my teammates. I will never forget it.
When we arrived back at our home (good old Casa Verde) I greeted mama Ada(my mom here in Guatemala) and gave her some chocolate that I bought. She is such a hardworking sweet heart! But we had like an hour and a half worship night as a team and God worked through each and every one of us. This house is no more filled with darkness but a light to this community. The lord is with us here and he will never leave us. We came back as a team as warriors fighting for Christ and spreading is kingdom in this dark dark dark city of Puerto Barrios!
Love to all!
