World Race: Through the Fire

It started off as a typical day off for a team on the World Race in the Dominican Republic. They had plans to go to dinner and were running late. But what started as a typical day soon turned into an adventure in which they saw God move in an incredible way.

As they walked down the street they saw flames erupting from a nearby house and knew to do only one thing–move, and move quickly.

Joel Dutton tells the story of how he made the quick decision to go into the building and save whoever he could.
“My first reaction
was shock, but before it fully hit me I found
myself sprinting and leaping over the spiked fence that barricaded the house…Once the burning in my eyes
subsides I see a boy, probably 8 yrs old, standing there naked and
helpless. We are yelling for him to come out but he hesitates… All he
can do is cough and point to the back, then it hits me:
Everyday
that we would pass this house we were always greeted by the cutest
twin faces. There were two little, twin girls who lived there who were
probably around 4 yrs old. They would always come outside when the
heard us come by and say “hola” in a voice that reeked of
innocence.
As other members of his squad helped put out the fire and took care of the children, he pulled the twins from the flames.

But he is quick to say he is no hero. He knows the hero was the one who divinely appointed it all.
