Beauty, Passion, and Trash

We step out of the van and the view is indescribable.  You see palm trees and beautiful mountains… Then you see trash. In this valley, everything is garbage. The road is lined with shacks where the people sit and keep their stuff during the day, we had passed all their houses on the way there. There are children running around and playing in the trash. They are beautiful and they are so excited to see us but their surroundings were astonishing.

These children were beautiful yet they ate and played in the garbage. I got to know one mother fairly well and I prayed for her toothache. I played with her kids. I helped her keep track of them. And I just loved on her and her family. This is something that I wouldn’t have been able to do a couple days before, because of the bitterness I would’ve had against the mother for putting her kids through this. But it isn’t her fault, and it isn’t my job to blame her or condemn her for her sins, but instead to love her for who she is, a beloved daughter of the King.

So since my first experience we have had the opportunity to minister to these people 3 more times. Hilda, one of the missionaries, set up for a medical brigade to come and bring healthcare to these people on Monday and Tuesday. We got to help staff the brigade and make the jobs if the staff much easier.

I personally got to minister to the mom I talked about earlier and her children on Monday. Her name is Nora and her children are Sender and Kimberly but she also cares for her nieces Maebelien and Valeria.

They had different places where the people could get medicine or dental care and in the mean time the kids could color and play games at a different station (which is the one I was working). After they colored a picture frame they could get their photo taken, which they loved! It was so cute how they wanted a photo of themselves and of their siblings and of their entire family.

Anyway, we went back to the dump on Thursday and it was great! After we served a meal, we went from family to family and prayed for them.

There was a family that actually lives in the dump. They have 5 kids and the 3 girls are Duña (age 16), Sandra (age 9), and Mierna (age6). Well Mierna is currently getting over the chicken pox and Sandra just caught a very serious case. One of my friends and I took Sandra some food because she couldn’t come and get it. We then prayed for her and told her we love her and she is beautiful even though she is embarrassed about the chicken pox. These girls are so awesome and love The Lord so much.

So our group prayed over their family and Duña and Mierna decided to come pray with us. This started a chain reaction! Every family we went to after, at least one of the kids joined us! It was so cool!!

I loved being able to walk with my arm around Duña. I asked about her dreams and her relationship with Christ and I would look down at her while we were praying from time to time, and the passion I saw!! You could see how much she love Christ and how much she wanted to bless the person we were praying for, all over her face.

I cannot wait to see how much God will use her and her life for His glory. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. She desires to be a doctor so she can help the poor. She is so rich in the Spirit and I love it but please be praying that this fire and passion will not die.

Also continue praying for the health and unity of my team. Thank you so much for you prayers. Love you all!!
