College Missions: A Day in the Life

Passport Immersion is a nine month mission trip for college-age participants (18-22 years old) to spend three months in three regions: three months in Central America, three months in Southeast Asia, three months in Africa. Our current Immersion squads have just made their first continent transition, and they’re loving life. Check out what a day in their lives looks like, via Andrea Grant and Elliot Huemann:

6:30 AM – Morning sunshine! It was pretty wonderful to sleep under a roof and on flat ground for a week.

7:00 AM – Eat breakfast and have quiet time.

8:00 AM – Watch the village parade.

8:30 AM — Kill a chicken to eat for lunch. This was a first for me!

9:00 AM – Work day starts. I spent my week painting a church and then repainting it another time because they realized they wanted a different color.

11:00 AM – Help my host Xiomara make lunch.

2:00 PM – Teach English to some of the kids from the village and hang out with them.

4:30 PM – Time to go to the river to shower. There is no running water at the village-only during a few hours each day. So you can either go to the river or take a bucket shower.

5:30 PM – Make tortillas for dinner.

7:00 PM – Church time. We had church Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

9:00 PM – Make donuts! I will be coming home with lots of delicious recipes.

11:00 PM – Time for sleep.
