Every year, approximately 2.6 million tourists visit Angkor Wat (near Siem Reap where the Adventures Cambodia team is based) each year. In 2019, travel and tourism contributed for over 30% of the country’s economy.
Due to the effects of Covid-19, tourism is down 99%!
Because the Siem Reap area of Cambodia’s economy relies heavily on tourism, many people have been without work for a year and are in dire need of food and physical help.
The Cambodia team continues to serve in as many open doors as they can during the Covid-19 pandemic, and God continues to show up!
The team is committed to both aiding in these needs and discipling communities toward long-term self-sufficiency and Gospel hope, and is seeing more and more doors open, even when the world is shut down.
Recently three single women came to receive food from our Cambodian staff. They were from a rural area and were desperate for food for their community. Besides giving them what they needed, our staff shared the gospel with them. They were invited to come to a house church, where they gave their lives to Christ.
They will not only bring food back to their village, but the hope of the Gospel!
