We're almost two weeks into being on the field in Guatemala. Things started off pretty slow with ministry but have started to pick up. The past few days have been my favorite. We went to an orphanage on Thursday where we got to hold the cutest babies and learn more about the work we will get to be doing there in the weeks to come.
Yesterday we went to the bars and witnessed to the prostitutes. For some reason I wasn't really affected by it, I thought I was going to be upset and angry, but it's only by the grace of God I walked out of the bars with a smile on my face. I just know that God is going to open up some awesome opportunities for us to Orelationships with these women and to show them that there is a better life out there.
The orphans and the prostitutes have a lot in common. They're both in captivity. They don't know anything different from the situations they're in. They've been told this is the only life for them. Due to Guatemala closing adoption these orphans don't have a way out. These beautiful women have been told by their pimps that nobody loves them. But thankfully they're is great news for the orphans and prostitutes. All they have to do is let us build relationships with them and pray that they'll notice something is different about us Americans, besides our white skin.
Outside of ministry everything is going well. We usually wake up around 8am and eat breakfast. From there we have a couple hours to ourselves as a team to spend time in prayer and worship. After that we'll go to a ministry site for a couple hours or work on ministry prep and then eat lunch. And then in the evenings we either have a time for sharing testimonies and worship or we'll go to the park and pretend that we're good at playing basketball.
Life here in Guatemala is great. I take every chance to live life to the fullest. Whether I go across the street to the tienda and eat a popsicle, take a shower in the pouring down rain, or ride on the back of a motorcycle with Andrea (one of our translators). I have definitely enjoyed the slow paced lifestyle here. I hope you all are doing wonderful back at home and I greatly appreciate the prayers!
