Shout It

Door to door ministry has been something I have dreaded. It scared me to go up to people and present the gospel. I mean they are strangers and what if I offend them? Fear kept me on the sidelines as I believed that other brothers in sisters had words to bring conviction that I didn’t have.

But by Gods grace, He is changing my perspective and teaching me that I have much boldness in in Him! Door to door ministry is actually something I am learning to embrace and enjoy now because God has given me the privilege to bless and be blessed by others.

Such an encounter was a few weeks ago when our ministry joined Rey De Reys (a local church) to knock on doors, start a relationship with families, pray with them, and plants seeds of hope, conviction, and truth in their hearts. As our team was walking down a street, we stopped to talk with a family that had a food stand in front of their house. This sweet old Spanish lady(I’m going to call her Dora) with weathered face and hands, and a floral dress came to greet us. The Lord knew I needed a grandma here! She had a life and joy in her eyes that contradicted her age.

Then Dora started to tell us her testimony. She explained how she had lived with cancer that caused much pain and brokenness. Through her faith, prayers, and the faithfulness of God, she was healed!!! Not only was her heart and soul complete and whole in Christ, so was her body which is a temple unto the Lord. Overcome with joy, Dora exuberantly went to the local churches to proclaim the power of the One and true God.

Speaking with conviction in her aged voice, Dora challenged us to bring her story back to America and share it so people will know that there is power in the name of Jesus. Miracles do happen every day. But our hearts must be open to the many ways God works in and through us.

As we got ready to leave, Dora looked at me. Her eyes pierced my soul with the wisdom, power, and love of God. Though my heart was troubled and conflicted, I know without doubt that the Lord sent Dora to stir truth and clarity in my heart. Though we don’t speak the same language, we are in relationship with an infinite God who breaks through cultures and brings unity.

Often I wonder what my purpose is here. And now I know. God has given me the responsibility to share these stories to His people, to challenge and encourage them in their faith. What is God doing in your life? Never think that your testimony is too insignificant to share. Your story is one of redemption, grace, and victory and it all shouts of the glory of God. Walk in boldness and proclaim what the Lord is doing in your heart and in the lives of others. You never know the impact that those stories will have either in America or across the globe.
