Meet the People of El Salvador

El Salvador is a vibrant and beautiful nation in Central America, celebrated for its warm hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and breathtaking landscapes—from its volcanic mountain ranges and coffee-growing regions to its stunning Pacific coastline. Although it is the smallest country in the region, it is densely populated and full of life, shaped by resilience, community, and a strong sense of togetherness.

Family plays a central role in Salvadoran society. It is common for extended families to live close or even within the same household, strengthening the bonds between parents, children, grandparents, and relatives. These close-knit relationships create a deep sense of belonging and mutual support. At the same time, economic pressures and migration often mean that families are spread across borders, adding both challenges and layers of complexity to daily life.

Faith is also deeply woven into the identity of El Salvador. Christianity, both Catholic and evangelical shapes cultural values, traditions, and community rhythms. Local churches often serve as anchors for families, providing spiritual guidance, practical support, and a place of hope for those facing difficult circumstances.

Service Opportunities

The heart of a mission trip to El Salvador is to walk alongside local communities with humility, love, and a genuine desire to serve. Teams partner with Salvadoran churches and leaders to encourage families, strengthen neighborhoods, and share the hope of Christ in meaningful and respectful ways.

Ministry opportunities may include community outreach, children’s programs, discipleship and Bible teaching, construction and service projects, youth and after-school programs, sports ministry, prayer ministry, and supporting families who are navigating both practical and spiritual challenges. Mission work isn’t about “fixing” problems, it’s about building relationships, uplifting local believers, and joining in the work God is already doing in El Salvador.

Participants often return home deeply impacted by the faith, generosity, and resilience they encounter. Through shared worship, service, and genuine connection, both mission teams and Salvadoran communities experience God’s love in powerful and lasting ways.

Living Arrangements

Your team will be staying in bunk-style housing. Bedding is not provided, so please bring a light sleeping bag along with your own pillow, towel, toiletries, and a flashlight. There are separate dorms for males and females, as well as separate men’s and women’s bathroom and shower areas.

Transportation

Fly into Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL) often called El Salvador International Airport, it is located in San Luis Talpa, about 40–45 minutes from San Salvador. and we’ll pick you up! All ground transportation will be provided. Your Missions Leader will discuss specifics about travel for your specific team.

Cooking

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for the entire group, both on-site and while we’re out during ministry. Our cooks will serve a mixture of both western and Salvadorean meals. They will do their best to accommodate dietary restrictions but it is always best to bring food to supplement any dietary needs.

Safety

The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., students must be with an adult at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. Our Mission Leaders are trained in risk management and have access to both on-field and home-office support.

Registration and Payment

$500 Deposit: This deposit is required to reserve your trip. At this point, you will lock in your trip and we will keep in touch with you going forward about preparation. This deposit is applied to the total cost of your trip.

50% Payment: Half of your total trip cost will need to be paid 3 months before your trip.

100% Payment: The remaining balance is due 2 months before your trip.

Meet Your Mission Leader

An adult Mission Leader will be assigned to your team throughout the duration of your trip. They will stay with you and your team, as well as engage daily with you throughout ministry and daily life activities. This leader will have strong missions experience, leadership experience and a demonstrated competence in the area of discipleship of youth and young adults. In most cases, your Mission Leader will help with facilitating ministry, meals and daily debrief and devotional time. Your Mission Leader will be assigned to your trip and you’ll have the opportunity to have conversations with them during the weeks leading up to your trip.
