Apologies Part I

Hello! I apologize for there being a lack of my blogging, I have been unsuccessful in posting because the internet doesn't like me 🙁 So I'll be posting my blogs from the past couple of weeks. October 1st: This week has been hard. It’s a holiday here in Cambodia for this week, so we’ve had a almost a week off from our main ministry. Which means I’ve had lots of time to think. I’m missing home a little bit, it’s hard to see my teammates on our internet days skyping with people from home and I’m stuck with lame facebook and emailing. But God is...

Apologies Part II – Video

Please read my previous blog to know why this is from a week ago 🙂 October 7th: I finally got my September video uploaded! So enjoy and I’m sorry it’s a wee bit long 🙂 This will also be my update for the week: This week was pretty normal, we taught English to some kids, whose father is Buddhist, and we’ve been sneaking in some bible lessons into the hour and a half we have with them. They’re loving it. But honestly, this week God’s just been growing me. A lot. I am now six feet tall. But seriously, I’ve just learned to rest in God’s promis...

Get Dirty and Dive Deep

So this week in Cambodia God caused me to stretch further than I ever could've imagined. God didn't wait until the middle or end of the week to start pulling me out of my comfort zone. He started with Sunday of course and the process continued throughout the week.  Sunday afternoon we tried "feedback" a different way. Our leader's gave us a challenge to let one another know the things we could change and work on personally. I will be honest, "feedback" has always been a struggle for me especially since this...

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy down in my heart.

This week was a beautiful week of worship for me.  One of the ways I most connect with God is through music, and I treasure my time to be able to open up my heart to him this way.  But even though our team started the week with an hour long musical worship session and finished Friday night with a worship night at Transform Asia, worship this week extended so far beyond music. As Christ followers, we have the opportunity to worship God in everything we do.  Worship is setting ourselves aside and focusing all our faculties on who God is.  Worship is the momentum of seeing...

Lend me your ear and I’ll sing you a song….

So the Betsy situation from my last blog brought me to a place of brokenness before the Lord. This brokenness is what allowed me to know that God requires a humble servant that will rely on his guidance every second of life.  Thanks to this epiphany, the week of September 19-23 ministry was crazy amazing, and God showed me how truly joyous it is to serve him. “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14 To...

Surgery on a Stage

A lot has happened this week: We moved again. One of our teammates had surgery. Another had worms. And another little boy from the neighbourhood has attatched himself to me. His name is Huaa, and I love his little rotten toothed smile. He’s so stinkin cute. Okay, so we have moved. And here’s why: We were getting too comfortable with two people to a room, we weren’t growing anymore. So now have four to a room. I’m loving our new home. Why? No more cockroaches! Jesus loves me. And I’m loving my new roomies. They’re tres awesome. And we’re still living...

Terror No More

Hello! I won’t lie, these past few weeks have been all over the board for me emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Sickness, a death in the family, preaching, doing ministry and asking really big questions of God is a lot to process in a short amount of time. My biggest question this week was “Why does God allow innocent children to suffer horrific things that they have no control over?” The reality is millions of children suffer physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse. Millions of children are starving and will die of starvation. Millions of children are...

Week 5

Week 5. This week has been something wonderful and beautiful. The saying “time flies when you’re having fun” should be changed to “time flies when you’re doing what God has called you to”. Since finding my niche in ministry both at Transform Asia and on the streets during the evenings I suddenly find myself grasping for the time passing. Though I was always accepting of living in Battambang, I viewed it as a city in Asia where God had called me to. My heart found no deep attachment to it. Now I feel like I’m intertwined with Battambang. I have...

Silence means nothing if you don’t even try.

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, for the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." ~Matthew 7:7-8  I am in awe of God’s faithfulness! Once again, the thoughts in my mind are running rampant with stories to share this week. This past Wednesday, I sat alone with God and asked for discernment, I asked for a deeper connection, and I practically begged that my eyes would be opened for what he needed...

Psalm 71

Hello from Cambodia!   Well, our team moved locations in Battambang and we’re getting to know each other much better as we are now sharing beds:) I think my roommate is enjoying waking up to me cuddled up next to her, drooling on her shoulder!  But honestly, this move was completely intentional on God’s part.  Right outside our front door is a whole lot of need and it’s amazing what we see and experience every night we go out to pray for the city.  Undeniably, God is at work “binding up the brokenhearted…freeing the...

“Like a Child”

The conversation started off with a question. The question was, “Do you want to hear a story?”. He quietly replied, “sure.” I then proceeded to go into one of our classes to tell him a story with our translator Seang. I decided to tell a story that a lot of people have heard. A story of the love a Creator had for all of his creation, a story of temptation, and a story of ultimate sacrifice for others. The story was of the Creation of this world and of the Life of Jesus. I hadn't ever seen this boy Chhian before. He had randomly showed up at...

I Would Have Told You

You'd think I trust God, wouldn't you?  I mean, I did jump on a plane and move to Cambodia for three months. But God has been coaching me in nothing but trust this week. Here's the thing.  I have learned so much and grown so much during these past six weeks.  God has spoken a ton of truths and promises into my life that I know will shape me forever.  But during the past several days, I lost sight of what He's doing and why He's doing it.  I started to doubt His perfect plan for my life, and certain fears etched their way into my little...
