Silence means nothing if you don’t even try.

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, for the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." ~Matthew 7:7-8  I am in awe of God’s faithfulness! Once again, the thoughts in my mind are running rampant with stories to share this week. This past Wednesday, I sat alone with God and asked for discernment, I asked for a deeper connection, and I practically begged that my eyes would be opened for what he needed...

Surgery on a Stage

A lot has happened this week: We moved again. One of our teammates had surgery. Another had worms. And another little boy from the neighbourhood has attatched himself to me. His name is Huaa, and I love his little rotten toothed smile. He’s so stinkin cute. Okay, so we have moved. And here’s why: We were getting too comfortable with two people to a room, we weren’t growing anymore. So now have four to a room. I’m loving our new home. Why? No more cockroaches! Jesus loves me. And I’m loving my new roomies. They’re tres awesome. And we’re still living...

Terror No More

Hello! I won’t lie, these past few weeks have been all over the board for me emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Sickness, a death in the family, preaching, doing ministry and asking really big questions of God is a lot to process in a short amount of time. My biggest question this week was “Why does God allow innocent children to suffer horrific things that they have no control over?” The reality is millions of children suffer physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuse. Millions of children are starving and will die of starvation. Millions of children are...

Week 5

Week 5. This week has been something wonderful and beautiful. The saying “time flies when you’re having fun” should be changed to “time flies when you’re doing what God has called you to”. Since finding my niche in ministry both at Transform Asia and on the streets during the evenings I suddenly find myself grasping for the time passing. Though I was always accepting of living in Battambang, I viewed it as a city in Asia where God had called me to. My heart found no deep attachment to it. Now I feel like I’m intertwined with Battambang. I have...

ALMOST AT THE HALF WAY MARK…

GOD IS SO GOOD! "I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." Psalm 57:9-11 We are almost at the half way mark! On Monday we leave for midway debrief, which is in Antigua, Guatemala. It is suppose to be extremely beautiful! Cannot wait! 🙂 What God has taught me so far… It's not about me! It's not about my comfort or my happiness! It's about...

Feedback…

Well… here I go. Think of any feeling you could possibly have and I've probably experienced that this week… Happiness, frustration, hurt, eye-opening clarity, but I'm pretty sure you get the picture by now. Last week, I had gotten feedback from Ms. Hailey Jackson, but all she told me was we need to have a conversation about it later. That's it. No clues, no hints, nothing except "we need to have a conversation soon." *BACKGROUND STORY TIME* Over the past year, I felt God telling me I had to cut a certain person out of my life and I pretty much...

God’s Goodness

So far, my time in Cambodia has surprised me.  I wasn’t prepared to do what God has me doing here.  Going into this trip, I knew I wanted to work against the problem of sex trafficking.  Once I got here, I slowly came to the realization that this looked completely different than what I had expected—even though I tried to lay down my expectations before coming.  Honestly, I had a lot of disappointment building in me that could at any moment turn into rotten bitterness.  I’m teaching English—this wasn’t what I had imagined.  I have...

I Would Have Told You

You'd think I trust God, wouldn't you?  I mean, I did jump on a plane and move to Cambodia for three months. But God has been coaching me in nothing but trust this week. Here's the thing.  I have learned so much and grown so much during these past six weeks.  God has spoken a ton of truths and promises into my life that I know will shape me forever.  But during the past several days, I lost sight of what He's doing and why He's doing it.  I started to doubt His perfect plan for my life, and certain fears etched their way into my little...

“Like a Child”

The conversation started off with a question. The question was, “Do you want to hear a story?”. He quietly replied, “sure.” I then proceeded to go into one of our classes to tell him a story with our translator Seang. I decided to tell a story that a lot of people have heard. A story of the love a Creator had for all of his creation, a story of temptation, and a story of ultimate sacrifice for others. The story was of the Creation of this world and of the Life of Jesus. I hadn't ever seen this boy Chhian before. He had randomly showed up at...

Psalm 71

Hello from Cambodia!   Well, our team moved locations in Battambang and we’re getting to know each other much better as we are now sharing beds:) I think my roommate is enjoying waking up to me cuddled up next to her, drooling on her shoulder!  But honestly, this move was completely intentional on God’s part.  Right outside our front door is a whole lot of need and it’s amazing what we see and experience every night we go out to pray for the city.  Undeniably, God is at work “binding up the brokenhearted…freeing the...

Can’t Complain…

Hello U.S of A! Whelp, this is my third blog of my mission trip in Guatemala. On this blog, I would like to talk to you all about how God has opened my eyes to complaining. Complaining, to express feelings of pain, dissatisfaction, or resentment. About 2 weeks ago my team and I were coming across some issues about the ministries here in Guatemala. Most of that was about the time issues here in Guatemala. That being we will be told a time to be somewhere but we will have to wait 30 minutes to an hour before we leave or someone even shows up. But that is just the culture here in Guatemala. So...

Church-Hopping: Suburban Hobby or Life as a Missionary in Pto Barrios

I wasn’t even planning to blog this week. I felt on the verge of verbal vomiting all over the page, and since the only person that would help is me, I thought I’d hold it in. Last night, however, I had a long, revelatory conversation with my dad and from that comes this blog post. When I was on the World Race, we frequently worked with pastors or churches, and consequently went nearly exclusively to their churches. So depending on the month and our contact, we would attend a different denomination’s churches throughout the region, or just one church the whole month. As a...
