When first arriving in the Atlanta airport I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew that the next few days at training camp were going to be hard, but I didn’t really know what all that entailed. Originally I thought that by it being hard we were going to be roughing it the whole time to prepare us for what’s to come. But I soon realized that this was not the case. The past couple of days have really been hard in challenging personal issues and the barriers that truly prevent us from our full potential.
After meeting our teams we were given an envelope that gave us just enough money to ride the marta (local train system) to downtown Atlanta. I soon was regretting how much I had packed, since we had to lug it around the city. We then walked several blocks and spent the night in a homeless shelter. We were then given some instruction and were sent out on the streets of Atlanta where we were able to engage on some really awesome conversations with people. This was quite the experience because this was the weekend of “dragon con,” in which everyone dresses up like their favorite superhero, fictional/ comic character, and so on. We pretty much saw any and everything that night. Its not every day that you get to meet up with Darth Vader. Lol
The next day we then packed up our gear and headed over the AIM headquarters. That’s when the real training began.
God completely restored my vision of who I am and why I am here. The barriers and worldly walls that have been surrounding me have been demolished and torn down. Lies of insecurity and self doubt that the world had stuffed in my head have been completely wiped free. I am a free woman. A beloved daughter of Christ who has been chosen for this mission and who has a specific purpose. Tomorrow we head out for Guatemala, and that is when our trip truly begins. 🙂
With love,
