How You Can Help Mexican Missionaries

In 1997, AIM began the Missions Training Institute (MTI) in Matamoros, Mexico. (For the full story of how the MTI began, click here.)

Mexican missionary students from the MTIStarting the MTI was something that God led AIM’s founder Seth Barnes to do in order to raise up long-term, national missionaries in Latin America.

Since the inception of the institute, the MTI has trained an mobilized hundreds of missionaries, sending them into unreached areas of Mexico and all over the world.

This year, the MTI is relocating and needs $35,500 to make some much-needed renovations on the new facility. These missionaries in Mexico need your help! (Find out more…)

Desperate Circumstances: Freddy’s Story
Freddy shares his experience with from a recent mission trip to the Islands of Mexico:

Mexico missions projectWe went to evangelize in a place where they prepare the fish to sell. It was quite an experience for me to witness to the fishermen, because as we talked with them they continued to work. We sang songs and shared our testimonies, and to my surprise the people actually listened to us even though they continued working.

I was praying with one lady for her son who had tried to kill his sister. The woman felt that an evil spirit had taken control of her son from a young age, because an evil spirit had spoken to him and told him to do it, and when we were praying God set him free.

I saw so much poverty and hopelessness in the eyes of the people. They came; tears filling their eyes, as they gave their all to Christ. It was a picture that still fills my memories, and I wonder if my life was that desperate would I still serve Him?

Vilma’s Dream
Vilma shares how God spoke to her through a dream that came true:
Sharing the Gospel in MexicoGod surprised me when I saw how many children came to give their lives to Christ. As we were doing house-to-house ministry we realized that many of the people already knew the gospel but they had not lived a Christian life in a long time.

We prayed with one man who had once lived a Christian life and now was an alcoholic. As we prayed with him, we told him that he did not have to be afraid of returning to God, because God was waiting for him with His arms opened wide.

During the trip I had a dream of a specific family and house that we would encounter. In my dream God told me what to say to them, so each day I would look for them. When we came upon the house, it was exactly as it was in my dream and the young man that I saw in the dream was standing in front of the house. I told him, “God sent me to tell you that even though you are away from Him, He has never left you and that no matter what you have done He will forgive you. God wants you to know that He has a plan for your life and that He wants to heal you and to give you a new life.” Tears streamed from his eyes as we prayed for him.

This trip showed me that if we only believe in what God shows us, and trust that He will do what He says, then we will see great things happen.

A Miracle for a Family: Ethny’s Story
Ethny tells a story of ministry and redemption:

Mission trips in MexicoOne day, we met a man who was obviously drunk and he had two small girls with him. He said that he was their uncle and that they had been abandoned by their mother.

He asked if we would walk with them to their home and as we did we shared the Word of God with him. He asked if we would pray for him and it was so amazing to me as we prayed I saw the power of God cover this man and he was completely set free from alcohol. He was sober it was wild and he thanked us and said that he wanted to follow God. For me I was blown away at the amazing power of God.

Many would have passed by this man once they saw that he was intoxicated but God did not pass him by. God had a plan to reveal His love to him. I am so glad to have been a part of this beautiful plan of God.
