Passport Immersion Is Changing Its Name!

Heads up! One of our programs is changing its name quicker than a newlywed—and for good reason. Passport Immersion is now World Race: Gap Year. We’re incredibly excited for this transition, and while a lot of things are going to stay the same—anyone age 18-22 can still dive into three countries in nine months— one thing is changing. Starting now, World Race: Gap Year falls under the World Race umbrella. Like the first World Race, Gap Year participants travel to multiple continents for the better part of the year. But Gap Year participants have the chance to do...

Changing Lives with the Dinner Table

Adventures community is what transforms places from the inside out. Jonathan Little and his team went to Guatemala with the simple vision of asking what the Lord wanted to do there. Almost half a year later, he and his team are seeing how God cares for his people.  The Lord had placed a village on our hearts in prayer, so we were going to catch an autobus de pollo to scout it out. On the way to the bus stop, we ran into one of the most precious women I have ever met in my life.    It was Kacie’s...

What’s on the Other Side of a Child Sponsorship Letter?

For the month of October, leading up to Orphan Sunday on November 3rd, we will be sharing stories on the theme of adoption and orphan care – stories of street kids, orphans, and children at risk, and the ways our missionaries have seen God care for them. We’ll share stories of missionaries caring for children, fighting for them, and even bringing them home to stay. And on Monday, November 5th, we’ll share a special story that is close to our hearts. To kick off our series, here is a story from Jessica Gasperin, a World Race alumnus from the July 2011 X Squad. After...

Epoch Awards are this Month!

Here at Adventures, we love to celebrate the unseen. Over the years, we’ve met hundreds of people who are quietly changing the world. They live stories of sacrifice, risk, and heartfelt love. But many of them at times feel alone — struggling for support as they pour themselves out. We wanted to celebrate the unsung heroes all over the globe who are making a difference. The Oscars, the Golden Globes, the CMA’s — all these nights celebrated people who have given their all to their industry. Why couldn’t we do the same for people advancing the kingdom of God?...

The Answer to a Desperate Prayer

You never know what will happen on an Adventures Mission Trip. Participants are often told to "drop their expectations", listen to God, and see what happens. That's exactly what Chris McArthur's youth group did. While in New Orleans, they expected God to move. But they never thought they could hear his voice like this:  What is the one thing that most all little kids learn at a very early age before going out in public? Look both ways when crossing the street and DO NOT TALK TO STRANGERS! Sometimes on Adventures in Missions trips we...

Three Days: Bedridden to Running

Ellie Hillhouse and her Africa Expedition Passport team are allowing Christ to shine through them in the dark country of Mozambique. There is much despair in Mozambique. The stone and cement houses with tin roofs are colorless and contain sickness and darkness. My team walks by these houses every day on our way to church. We spend our ministry days going door to door, praying over hurting people, and seeing God heal them. Three days ago I stepped into a small, candle-lit house to find a woman lying on the couch covered in a blanket with beads of sweat rolling down her face. Malaria....

He Reigns.

You know that one song that talks about African plains and Asian believers? Most people who listen to Christian radio or watch inspirational slide shows about missions have heard it. Since K Love plays in my house in Bozeman and in all the Keena cars, I have had my fair share of this song.  I remember listening to it in fourth grade with a friend who was a missionary kid in Tanzania. That was eight years ago so I assure you, I know this song well. In fact, I've kinda grown numb to it.  A lot of songs we sing in church or hear on the radio are overplayed and then we often...

Food Glorious Food

If you know me I’m sure you wondering why it took until my third post to talk about food. But I’m here now and that’s all that matters. We’ve been in Guatemala now for three weeks and had too many food adventures to recount. I will tell about some of the highlights of the trip so far. We cook for ourselves which has been interesting but really rewarding. In order to do this we shop at the outdoor market for fruits, veggies, meats, and eggs and in the supermarket for the rest. The market is an amazing maze of colors and smells. As we run through the narrow spaces in...

This is my Awakening

Something I couldn’t comprehend, I would get more upset seeing the stray dogs roaming the streets and the baby kittens that were waiting to be adopted then I was for his people. Seriously?! I truly thought there was something wrong with me! Yes it saddens me to see how some people are forced ro live but I was trying to convince myself to be upset. It bothered me beyond belief that I wasn’t heartbroken over the sons and daughters of Christ. So I started pursuing the Lord and praying “God would you break my heart for what breaks yours”. On September 13 we went to a hospital right up the road...

Cancel the Amber Alert

This summer, Hannah Segers–a Passport participant to Thailand–was rocked to the bone and she walked the streets of Chang Mai seeing first hand the horrible epidemic of trafficking. She not only gained a passion to fight against it but saw a glimpse of it through the Lord's eyes. This is her story.   Searching, meaning, purpose.   These words have been playing on repeat in the tape deck of my mind the past 5 days to the point that the tape should just about be worn out. In the red light district of Chiang Mai I've seen this unending,...

Introducing Venture Magazine

Yesterday, after almost a year of digging into this idea of living a good story, a group of our dedicated Storytellers launched something really special. Our Storytellers—all World Race alumni—spent many months together, collectively dreaming of a creating a place where well-lived stories could reside. The result of their efforts is Venture Magazine and they're so excited to invite you into it. You know what it’s like, how it feels. To be inspired. To create. To live a life worth living. It’s caught up in the little things, right?   It’s in jumping...

How a Packing Meltdown Made Me Ready to Race

Most people take an Adventures trip looking for change. But sometimes people feel the pressures of change even before they leave. Kaleigh Ward has not yet left for the World Race, and she’s feeling out of her comfort zone. In fact, she is only beginning to see what her true motives for missions are. I jumped off the scale, plugged the numbers into my calculator, and gave a shout of victory.   “35.8 pounds! My big bag only weighs 35.8 pounds!”    I danced a happy jig and proclaimed my joy in a Facebook status. Then, I looked down.   There,...
