It’s Show Time: Zi’s Film Is Here!

All month we’ve been sharing stories of orphans and children at risk. Thanks to you, our Adventures family, our missionaries have met and loved these kids. Together you’ve prayed for them, sponsored them, advocated for them, and even adopted them. And now we want to share a final story that has become close to our hearts. Two years ago, we watched as World Racer Jenn Watson met a little Chinese boy with Down Syndrome named Zi. Jenn took a leap of faith when she asked her family to adopt him, and God opened every door to make it possible. In Psalm 68:6, God promises that he sets...

Can you really change someone’s life in a month? No, but God can. All month we’ve been sharing stories of orphans and children at risk who our missionaries have met and loved. We’ve told you about how you can pray for them, sponsor them, advocate for them, and even adopt them.  And now we want to share a final story that has become close to our hearts. And make sure to check out the very end for a glimpse of...

Epoch 2013: Photo Blog

Last night we had the amazing opportunity to celebrate unsung heroes from all over the globe at the 2013 Epoch Awards at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA. In the coming weeks we’ll be able to tell even more stories from the night, but for now we wanted to share pictures from this incredible event. Enjoy! After hearing story upon story of unsung heroes that have continued to serve despite the odds, we ended last night at Epoch Awards with this parting thought: Jesus is alive, he’s always good, and despite the days when things look darkest, he is always...

The Down and Dirty of Missions

Candace Jeffcoat can’t tell you why in the world she is in Honduras. Sure, she can tell you what she’s doing, who she is meeting, and what ministries she helps on a daily basis. But lately while investing in the local neighborhood in Honduras, Candace found answers in places she never expected, and a God that shaped her heart. I’ve tried writing/blogging in the early mornings I spend with Jesus while holding a sleeping baby that was conceived from rape. I’ve tried after a long day of building dorms that will one day be filled with volunteers and victims of...

What Happens When God Calls You to Be a Mom on the World Race?

For the month of October, leading up to Orphan Sunday on November 3rd, we’ve been sharing stories on the theme of adoption and orphan care – stories of kids living on the streets, orphans, and children at risk, and the ways our missionaries have seen God care for them. We’re sharing stories of missionaries caring for children, fighting for them, and even bringing them home to stay. And on Monday, November 5th, we’ll share a special story that is close to our hearts. This week’s story is from Cassie Schott, a World Race alumnus from the October 2010 S...

Coming Soon: An Amazing Adoption Story You’ll Want to Share

All month we’ve been sharing stories of orphans and children at risk who our missionaries have met and loved. We’ve told you about how you can pray for them, sponsor them, advocate for them, and even adopt them.  Next week we are going to start sharing a final story that has become close to our hearts. It’s a story of what can happen when you say a big yes to what God is asking and then watch as he opens door after door to make it all possible. Next week we’ll tell you the story, but for now, here is a little glimpse of what’s to come on November 5th. We...

I Knew This Would Happen ;; Emerson

It seems that every time I go on a missions trip or every summer at camp, one kids grabs a hold of my heart. Being here for three months, I knew it was bound to happen here, just like it has in the past. Gabby, Colten, Zoe, and Hyatt are a few of the kids who grabbed my heart and still have it. I think about those kiddos regularly and how bizarre it is these pint sized people consume my thoughts and my prayers often.    I love that Jesus uses children to show me his magnitude and glory.    The first time we headed to the Cerebral Palsy...

The Guate AIM Base

A few weeks ago, our team had the honor of having breakfast for dinner at the AIM base here in Antigua. I was expecting our time there to be enjoyable because…well, we were having breakfast for dinner. That’s always enjoyable. Noe picked us up from our hostel and we rode in the back of his pick up truck to a beautiful house a few miles away from our home. As we walked in the house, we were instantly greeted by friendly faces and fresh fruit. The team at the base welcomed us in like we were family. I had no idea that by the end of the night, I would actually be calling them...

Stop, Breathe, and Listen

The past month our ministry has been to help at a cerebral palsy hospital a few days a week. This hospital houses over 75 wheelchair-bound sufferers whose ages range from two to 35. We help with the daily tasks which include: chopping vegetables for their one meal of mush, spoon feeding them their mush, changing them, bathing them, folding mass amounts of daily laundry, and most importantly loving on them (talking, playing, holding). By working there God has softened my heart an incredible amount. He has shown me how to love unconditionally and made me appreciate...

Passport Immersion Is Changing Its Name!

Heads up! One of our programs is changing its name quicker than a newlywed—and for good reason. Passport Immersion is now World Race: Gap Year. We’re incredibly excited for this transition, and while a lot of things are going to stay the same—anyone age 18-22 can still dive into three countries in nine months— one thing is changing. Starting now, World Race: Gap Year falls under the World Race umbrella. Like the first World Race, Gap Year participants travel to multiple continents for the better part of the year. But Gap Year participants have the chance to do...

Changing Lives with the Dinner Table

Adventures community is what transforms places from the inside out. Jonathan Little and his team went to Guatemala with the simple vision of asking what the Lord wanted to do there. Almost half a year later, he and his team are seeing how God cares for his people.  The Lord had placed a village on our hearts in prayer, so we were going to catch an autobus de pollo to scout it out. On the way to the bus stop, we ran into one of the most precious women I have ever met in my life.    It was Kacie’s...
