HE KNOWS MY NAME

I’m sitting on my 3-storey bunk bed enjoying the cool, soft breezed, Georgian rain. I am in love with this weather. After a season of heat and humidity, this is just exactly what I need.

Seeing, hearing the drops of rain bring so much comfort to me during this training. Not that it was so taxing or hard, but this rain is such a glimpse of God being such a good father. He really cares about each one of us and wants us to see, hear and feel His love.

The past four days have been quite an experience but one exciting thing that happened was during the first night. After meeting up with everyone for the first time at the airport, we walked a couple blocks with our luggage and backpacks in downtown Atlanta. We arrived at Safehouse, a shelter provided for the homeless people of Atlanta to stay the night. That evening we were given our first task: to go around downtown and have the courage to talk to strangers, hear their stories and have them listen to ours.

I got a chance to meet three amazing women that night. The first one was Elisa Gonzalez, a Colombian. She works at a café downtown, which her mother-in-law owns. She had a graceful spirit in her especially when she talks about her child. Second was Mary, a South African who had a unique gentle smile. Her tooth was aching and couldn’t talk much but her smile brought a thousand encouraging words in my heart. Lastly, I met Vida, a Mexican model who was doing a photoshoot in Atlanta. She took that night off to see the festivities going around downtown.

All of these women had amazing stories and each one carried beautiful names. But what the Lord brought to my heart when I started praying for them was that He longs to have intimacy with each one of them – Elisa, Mary and Vida. God longs to love Elisa and show her true purpose of being a good wife and a loving mother to her child. He desires for Mary to be with her family one day as He gazes upon her smile and she would also show her affections toward Him. Last but not the least, He waits for Vida to come home to his loving arms and know that He is the ultimate lover and provider. She does not need to live in shame for her sins and for bringing Gabriela, her four year old into a world of chaos. She wants to be a loving mother and wants to provide for her. But all these desires are nothing compared to the surpassing affection to call their names and in response, his beautiful daughters would listen and look to Him, their Abba Father.

P.S.
Can’t wait for what’s in store in Guate.
