How to Pray for Cambodia Today

Every year, approximately 2.6 million tourists visit Angkor Wat (near Siem Reap where the Adventures Cambodia team is based) each year. In 2019, travel and tourism contributed for over 30% of the country’s economy. Due to the effects of Covid-19, tourism is down 99%! Because the Siem Reap area of Cambodia’s economy relies heavily on tourism, many people have been without work for a year and are in dire need of food and physical help. The Cambodia team continues to serve in as many open doors as they can during the Covid-19 pandemic, and God continues to show up! The team is...

A Miracle of Healing in Cambodia

Recently, our Cambodia team moved into action to assist a province about an hour and a half away from Siem Reap during a flood that engulfed their market, destroying much of their food supply. This province has a population of 10,000 people, but only two of those people are believers. As the first Christian organization in the area, they distributed food, in turn catching the province Chief’s attention. He told them about an older woman who couldn’t walk that would need the food taken to her. She hadn’t walked in ten years. After meeting the woman, the team realized they didn’t want their...

Bringing the mission home

As you know, all of our World Race missionaries quickly returned to the USA back in March. We want them to have the opportunity to finish what the Lord started in and through them before their time on the mission field was cut short. Many of those World Racers have already joined teams domestically to join the movement of revival in America. And even more of them will be redeploying to the mission field both in the United States and internationally in 2021 to join our long-term missionaries who are rebuilding ministry efforts in the midst of a global pandemic. We’re excited to see what God...

What’s happening on campus

World Race: Gap Year is on campus! Over 100 World Race: Gap Year missionaries have joined us on our Gainesville campus for a fall semester! We made many COVID-approved adjustments for these participants to focus on training and growth, learn about their identity in Christ, and discover more of their callings. We’re now serving through disaster relief from the hurricanes in Louisiana! Our time serving with Samaritan’s Purse in Louisiana was amazing! Disaster relief gave our Racers an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ in a tangible way. While there was a lot of physical...

Keeping everyone healthy and safe

Effective this summer, we developed a COVID team, with the goal of ensuring we remain compliant on all fronts: staff, our various programs and participants, and campus engagements. This team comprises key leaders from various departments, backgrounds and perspectives, and they meet between 2-5 times weekly. This core group of leaders are consistently in-tune with both state/local regulations and our programs’ goals and plans, and they work to merge the two. They work together to make informed, aligned decisions, answer questions, and develop and execute plans that best serve the...

Spreading Hope When the Mission Trips End

When the spread of COVID-19 caused many countries to close down their borders, we unexpectedly had to bring over 500 World Race participants back to the United States within just a few days. But the World Race is just the beginning. Our hope is to awaken and activate people to a bigger journey, one where the Kingdom of God becomes a way of life.  Life is ministry. Ministry is life. We created the Hope Rising blog to continue sharing stories of how our alumni, ministry partners, coaches, and others within our network are spreading the hope of the Gospel in hope that others will be...

Hearing God’s Voice

In the middle of uncertainty we know this to be true: Jesus is still the answer. He is the only answer. We have hope because we know Him and have seen His heart for His people. Women are longing for connection with the Lord and each other. And Beauty for Ashes, the women’s ministry of Adventures in Missions, is grateful to create space for women to encounter Him on a weekly basis through Virtual Retreats in the midst of being quarantined.   Women are being deeply impacted by the Lord through the many virtual retreats being held around the country. There are women walking out of...

COVID-19 Relief Efforts and Ministry Response

Together, we’re trying to lessen the burden on struggling families brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and spread the love of Jesus through food distribution, community development, and discipleship.   ESWATINI | Our staff in Eswatini (Swaziland) has been responding to a mounting COVID-19 threat. When lockdown measures were making it difficult for families to source food, we started delivering boxes of food to the neediest families of the 7,000 children living in the 40 communities we serve. Then, a donor and one of our food partners made it possible to deliver over 1 million meals! The...

Adventures in Missions Beliefs and Actions in Response to Racism in America

Recent events where Black Americans have been wrongfully attacked and murdered highlight a history of racism that is abhorrent and must not be accepted. Racism is a sin against God and man. Christ followers and the Church in all its forms can’t rest until equality is achieved. Adventures in Missions seeks to Awaken and Activate Christ Followers to their identity and role in His Kingdom. Our beliefs are as follows: Man was created in the image of God. A sin against man is a sin against God. Racism is an affront to God and His people. Genesis 1:27 We are commissioned as followers of...

30 Years of Adventures

Adventures in Missions celebrated 30 years of ministry in the fall. God has been using Adventures throughout the years to bring hope in dark times and love to those who feel forgotten. We exist to mobilize a generation of radical Christ followers, discipling and training them to establish the Kingdom of God. And to think it all started in a two-car garage! Yes, for real. In the past 30 years, 131,476 participants have been sent around the world to show there is hope in Jesus. See a full timeline of our milestones of the past three decades in our 2019 Annual Report It has been an...

Recent Changes Due to COVID-19

In a time of greater chaos and fear than we’ve seen in generations, Adventures continues to work tirelessly to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in a way that reflects Christ’s love and faithfulness.  Due to the recent virus threat, our leadership team made the difficult decision to bring home almost 550+ participants between March 14-19. Our staff worked around the clock to book flights, communicate with parents, and set up logistics to safely bring these participants home. Please be in prayer for our missionaries as they continue to adjust to their new normal as a result...
